PEDS (Parents’ Evaluation of Developmental Status) is a fast, accurate, inexpensive screening, triage, and surveillance tool for developmental and behavioral problems in children from birth to age 8. It meets the accuracy standards set by the American Academy of Pediatrics and uses the parents’ own assessment of the child’s behavioral problems, as determined to be significant by full, peer-reviewed, scientific validation studies.
Effective August 1, 2014, AHCCCS providers who are appropriately “certified” can be reimbursed for performing the PEDS at the 9, 18 and 24 month well child examinations.
