Strategies for Early Identification in Adoloescent Substance Abuse

This webinar is a recording of a CME event originally held at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona on October 22nd.  The course has been designed with the purpose to develop, maintain and increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance of pediatric healthcare professionals by providing them with the highest quality, most relevant and accessible educational experiences possible.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• • State the demographics of Arizona alcohol and substance use and abuse
  
  
• • Recognize at least three early signs of alcohol and substance use, especially prescription drugs.
  
  
• • Identify the impact of adolescent cognitive development on decision-making involving risk behavior including alcohol and substance abuse
  
  
• • Describe at least two communication skills necessary in interacting early, middle and late adolescents
  
  
• • Advise parents and adolescents on substance use and treatment.
